How to Play
Any method can be used to determine who begins the game. The dealer button is placed in front of the player. The dealer button is then moved clockwise to the next player after each hand. Each player is then dealt two cards, one face-down, by the dealer. These cards are known as pocket cards. These cards are essential to keep private and confidential. Now, betting begins. Every player can place a wager, raise, check, or fold.
The dealer now turns over three community cards. These cards are known as the flop. Each player has five cards available to him: his pocket cards and the three community cards. The second round of betting follows.
The dealer will turn over the fourth card, known as the turn, after the final round of betting. This card is sometimes also called the fourth street.
Now, the dealer will turn over the fifth and final card, “the river”. The final round of betting begins.
The Showdown
A player attempts to get the best hand possible by combining his pocket cards and the community cards. All remaining players who have yet to fold in the game earlier must show their cards. The player with the best hand wins the pot. The pot will be split among the remaining players if there is no winning hand and the community cards are the strongest. If the writing was decided beforehand, the winner was the one who had the highest number of cards. This is known as a kicker. The kicker chooses the outcome if two or more players have a winning hand.
What is Betting?
The clockwise order dictates that the person sitting on the left-hand side is the one who starts the betting round. The next step is to either place a bet, fold or check.
